Pacifier is an up-and-coming band in Lansing, MI featuring original music that draws from Funk, Jazz, Blues, Folk, and Rock. For such an eclectic band, the logo had to be able to cross several genres.
For this mobile salon, the founder of Running With Scissors wanted a brand image that was fun, sassy, and chic. We used bold colors of black and white, which allows the fuchsia to really pop. Crisp lines lend themselves to the minimalist features of the silhouette, and varying the magnification of the woman’s silhouette add to the visual interest.
Great Lakes Artworks is new a gallery in Old Town, Lansing. They held a contest for a new logo and we won! The result is a continuing relationship with the gallery and their designs – from logo to website!
The Greater Lansing Time Bank is a “new” way to work together in a community. Instead of the usual money system, Time Banks use time as currency. Members earn “time dollars” which they can use for services provided by other members of the Time Bank in their community. I love this idea and followed the requests of my client in designing the logo and badges to be placed in Time Bank members’ windows.
Burgdorf’s Winery wanted to update their look to reflect the high quality tastes of their wines by moving from a “country winery” appearance to a more elegant, modern – but still slightly relaxed – look. To keep things simple and bold, they requested a color combination of black and white with accents of their signature red.
The logo uses Scriptina as a structural base for the font, then I modified the characters to be thicker, straighter, and have less ornamental swirls. This cleans up and bolds the look, makes it more readable, and more relaxed.
For their label, I utilized the shape of a triangle to draw the consumer’s eyes directly to the winery’s logo. Within the black triangle you find the wine variety, where it is made (Michigan), and the other vital information. The logo stands out in the white section with the slogan “A Moment in Wine” playing across the top. Information about the wine and winery are found on the left side of the label, along with website information and a QR code. On the right is the government warning as well as other contact information.
The business card reflects the style of label with the logo balancing at the top of the triangle, and all contact information being within the black space.
This project was SUPER fun! My client requested a very retro theme, but also wanted to embrace the essence of rubber bullets and the “mark” they leave (their slogan is “Leave A Mark”). I embraced a bold, stark font with retro characteristics, and stacked two bullets together for the “B.” To enhance the mark effect, I set the logo on a desaturated, teal, tilted oval. This branding has now been reflected in my designs of the business card, promotional flyers, and their social media & website (works in progress).
